Flash Circle TD Strategy Guide

First off, thanks to everyone for conducting a wonderful test of our site infrastructure... hundreds of thousands of you have hit Candystand.com since yesterday to play Flash Circle TD. The response has been overwhelming and we're thrilled that so many of you are enjoying the game.

In the coming weeks and months, we'll be updating the game quite a bit. The best place to have your suggestions heard is over on David Scott's message board (he developed the game).

I was browsing through messages tonight and was blown away to find a pretty detailed Flash Circle TD strategy guide. Thanks to iBotPeaches for doing all this work.

(Click it to play it)

How to Play?

The aim of the game is to control the number of monsters in the maze at any one time by building towers which can stop them.

To build a tower, simply click on its icon on the right of the screen then place it on the map by clicking again. Towers can only be built on the raised ground around the paths.

All towers can be upgraded to improve their strengths, to do this click on the tower then click on the upgrade button which appears on the right.

You can also sell towers to make back some extra money. How many levels can you last?

Target low health monsters by clicking them as they walk on the path. All towers in range of that creep will focus fire to try and take it out quicker.

The Problem:

Monsters enter the maze on the left and right of the screen, they will do so in groups of 30 (15 each side) every few seconds. The number of monsters that are walking / flying around the maze at any one time must be kept down below the maximum capacity of the maze (100 on Medium, 80 on Hard)

The Solution:

To control the total monster count you must build towers alongside the path the monsters take. Towers attack any monster that gets within range. To build a new tower you must select its icon on the right of the screen then move the mouse over to the maze and click again where you want to build the tower. The build icon will turn white when it is over a spot you can build on; it will turn red when you are not. Once a tower is built, if you have enough money left to build a 2nd tower the build icon will remain on your mouse cursor. If you do not wish to build a 2nd tower simply move your mouse over the path until the cursor is red then click. You can also focus fire on specific monsters as they walk by clicking on them. All towers in range of that monster will focus fire to try and take it out quicker.

Advanced:

All towers can be upgraded to improve their stats or sold to give you some of the $ you have spent on it back. To upgrade or sell a tower simply click on the tower you wish to upgrade/sell then press either of the buttons on the right. Some of the towers have special properties. The splash tower will do damage not only to the monster it hits but all monsters around it, the slow tower will reduce the speed of the monster which will make them take more hits from other nearby towers. Some towers only fire at monsters that are on the ground, the air tower will only fire on monsters that fly and other towers will fire on both land and air monsters.

Play like a pro:

Some hints and tips to help you do well.

1. Slow towers have low damage but can cause monsters to group up, making them easy picking for splash towers.
2. Built air towers before the air levels start then sell them when the air is all gone, this will free up $ for other towers.
3. When placing a tower the circle drawn around your mouse shows the range of the tower, use this to make sure the tower overlaps the path more than it overlaps other towers.
4. The range circle you get when you build or click on a tower flashes, this is the speed the tower fires.

I would a interest thing to increase with money, throughout the whole game

oval30 said...

also iwould recommend the splash towers to hit both land and air

oval30 said...

i think that splash should hit air and land creeps too. Thank you

the power of compound interest!!! let it build throughout the game, gradually get rid of all towers except damage and air and upgrade them with interest over time. You'll win the game no sweat.

Anonymous said...

COMPOUND INTEREST, use it to put in damage and air only you'll win for sure!!!

Well, level 390 has 238619 HP and is Fast (that's what it looks like, it's hard to read the Low Q. text), and level 391 looks like 237712 HP and is Normal (which leads me to believe I didn't read level 390 right.
$135,996,527 in interest this turn (only 22.5K points so far, so you can immagine what I and others have had before, but it should be a couple hours/days until I get there again). Level 392 is 238908 HP Air (this is all on Normal difficulty).
Anyway, I DID hit a Bug in the game (or it may have been flash itself that started messing up) last time I got to around 24K points. I built and destroyed so many buildings (demolishing Damage towers to put in Air, and then back again), that eventually the towers started to just Disappear! The last 8 or so I'd built would just suddenly turn into an empty spot. That was bad for keeping up with things. Also, changing from High to Low quality returned the Level Counter to 27, but that bug appears to have been squashed).
Was there a change in "clicking on the buggers" behavior as well? IT seems different now.

I just found this game recently and was having a problem. The clicking on a monster to have all towers target it just isn't working for me for some reason. Is there a trick to it?

Anonymous said...

Interest is definitely what's missing in this otherwise great tower game. It takes so long to build up money to upgrade, sometimes I have to just upgrade best where I can, go outside smoke and come back and then I have enough to make another round...

The damage (laser) towers are great and definitely do a lot of damage if put in the right place.

I would suggest NOT selling air towers for the money then buying them back because each successive air group is harder to kill. Better to groups of 2 near each corner and upgrade prior to their arrival.

Arrow towers are good in groups of 3 but again waiting for the money to build up to upgrade takes forever!

Anonymous said...

start with a few splash to get going then only add damage towers and upgrade them. add air as needed and make sure to upgrade them to keep ahead of the next group. if you build enough damage towers and upgrade them you will do well. do not mess with green towers
